a non-profit social organization providing a wide variety of activities
for older adults in the San Francisco Bay Area. Singles
of all ages are welcome to join, but most of our members are over 55.
- Most events are
sponsored by individual members on a cost-shared basis.
- Members are encouraged
to host and/or sponsor at least one event per year.
- Annual dues are
$35 for members who get the newsletter by email and $40 for members who get the newsletter by snail mail.
- Every month we offer a schedule of events including
such activities as travel, theatre, music (classical and jazz venues),
lectures, hikes, holiday celebrations, history walks, dining, dancing,
book discussions, potlucks, and bridge games.

SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY REHEARSAL
Wednesday February 24 - 8:30 AM
Let’s fight the cold weather and the gray skies! Join me to hear Herbert
conduct Mozart’s Symphony #36, the Linz Symphony, and Bruckner’s Symphony #6,
described as “a sonic cathedral.” As usual, the box office opens at 8:30 AM,
and there will be a crowd. The price is $20 for “open seating. We try to get
seats Left side of the Orchestra as we look at the stage, and between the 6-8th
row. Drop your coat to mark you seat, and join us in the Hall for coffee ($1)
and free donuts. There is a talk about the coming program from 9-9:30 a.m.
Don’t miss it! It is funny and enlightening. The rehearsal takes place from
10-12:30 p.m. We regroup in front of the Box Office, and go to a nearby Bistro
for an enjoying lunch at moderate prices.
Directions: the best way is to go by BART: to SF Civic Center, walk 4 blocks
past City Hall to Van Ness Ave. The Davies Hall is at 201 Van Ness.
AMISH ABSTRACTIONS QUILT EXHIBIT AT THE DE YOUNG MUSEUM
Thursday, March 11 - 1:00 PM
The Amish faith embodies the principles of humility and discipline, but their
quilts are anything but humble. Hailed as America’s first abstract art, Amish
quilts were made by girls and women in rural communities in Pennsylvania and
the Midwest. This exhibition features 48 remarkable quilts from the 1880s to
the 1940s. Call Sally Forelli at 415-227-0999 by March 9th if you plan to
attend. Meet inside the front door of the De Young at 1:00 p.m.
