Cal Singles is a non-profit social organization providing a wide variety of activities for older adults. Singles of all ages are welcome to join, but most of our members are over 55. The club is over 30 years old now.

Activities include dining out, potlucks in homes, discussion groups for books and other topics, hikes, plays, happy hours, museums tours, travel, music, holiday celebrations and bridge. Most events are sponsored by individual members on a shared cost basis. Members are encouraged to host and/or sponsor one event per year.

If you are an active senior and would enjoy the company of others to share your interests, check us out.

Cal Singles is affiliated with the University of California Alumni Association, but membership is not limited to U.C. graduates.

  • Dues $40 for members who get the newsletter by email and $55 for members who get the newsletter by snail mail.
  • Every month we offer a schedule of events including such activities as travel, theatre, music (classical and jazz venues), lectures, hikes, holiday celebrations, history walks, dining, dancing, book discussions, potlucks, and bridge games.

San Francisco Symphony Rehearsal and Lunch
Wednesday, January 25 - 8:30 AM
Not to be missed! Pinchas Zuckerman, conductor, violonist, violist conducts and performs some of the very best of Mozart including: The overture to the Magic Flute, the Violin Concerto #3, the Symphony #40, as well as Hindemith's Trauermusik, the powerful music of dreams. Happy Hour and Dinner at Spenger’s
Tuesday, January 31 - 5:00 PM
Meet us at Spenger’s, 1919 4th Street in Berkeley. Happy Hour is actually 4-6 p.m. with bar food (even burgers) available.  Come join in the mix and mingle atmosphere of this popular restaurant.

San Francisco Symphony and Lunch
Wednesday, February 8 - 8:30-12:30 PM
H. Blomstedt leads Bruckner’s Fifth Symphony “sweeping and resplendent, with the cathedral of sounds, the very essence of his music.” It is at Davies Hall, S.F. The cost is $22, open rehearsal the box office opens at 8:30, come early if you want a good seat. We try to be in the 6-8 rows left side of the Orchestra facing the podium. Join us there. Drop your coat on a seat and meet us in the Hall for coffee ($1) and free donuts. From 9-9:30 there is a lecture always witty and instructive, don’t miss it! The rehearsal is from 10-12:30 PM. We regroup in front of the box office to go to a nearby bistro for a friendly lunch (optional). Let me know if you are coming. Click here for more information.

Dance the Afternoon Away
Sunday, February 26 - 2:00 - 5:00 PM
We’ll dance to the strains of the Manny Gutierrez Quartet. Click here to RSVP so we can form up a table. The fee of $8 includes snacks and refreshments. The place is the San Rafael Community Center at 618 B Street. The floor is wonderful and the parking plentiful.
Directions: Coming north on Hwy 101 from the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge, take the Central San Rafael Exit, turn left on 3rd Street and left on B Street. The building is just south of the Safeway. Put on your dancing shoes!
