OAKLAND MUSEUM EVENT
Saturday, May 12 - 11:00 AM
As we all know, the ’60s brought definite changes in the rules of prior decades. Let’s recall our participation in and observation of teach-ins, love-ins, be-ins and important movements as we view the upcoming “1968” exhibit at the Oakland Museum. Cal, of course, was one of hundreds of colleges and universities holding teach-ins and both peaceful and violent demonstrations. Our group will have a docent tour of the depictions of social and political drama, including civil rights, anti-war and feminist historical milestones. Please arrive at the museum (just blocks from the Lake Merritt BART station) at 11:00 a.m. We will then proceed with our private tour, followed by lunch and/or further exploration, including the new museum gallery “Coming to California,” art exhibits and a display of political posters from the ’60s. The cost is $13 for museum admission and tour. There is a good café in the museum, where we can exchange personal memories. Click here to RSVP.

BERKELEY COMMUNITY CHORUS AND ORCHESTRA, DINNER
Sunday May 13 - 4:30 PM
For Mother’s Day, do not stay alone!! Join us to hear “Dvorak Requiem” performed by 200 choristers, a great orchestra and brilliant soloists. The concert master is Ming Luke. This is a very popular, admission free event, but donations are gladly accepted. This is open seating, and we should arrive early to get good seats. You can check their website at BCCO.org for further info and directions, or contact me. Afterward let’s go to a nearby restaurant for a friendly meal. Click here to RSVP.
Directions to Saint Joseph The Worker, 1640 Addison, Berkeley: If you drive, there is parking back and side of the church, but it gets quickly full, and parking is on the street. You may take BART to Central Berkeley, take Addison and walk 6 blocks until you see the golden steeple on your left, or walk to University Ave and catch a bus to McGee.

Please come early if you must purchase your ticket before the rehearsal starts, and get a seat. Tell us you are coming and if you want to join us for lunch. ANGEL ISLAND STATE PARK ADVENTURE
Friday, May 18 - 9:30 AM
We’re going to that beautiful island in the middle of the Bay, with views of the San Francisco skyline, the Marin Headlands, the East Bay, and beyond. Spring flowers will be in bloom…just wait until you see the vibrant Pride of Madera (not a beverage). On the Tiburon Ferry, it will take us just 20 minutes to get there and just 15 minutes if you take the SF Ferry from Pier 41. And we have lots of options when we get there! We can hike the island (or any portion thereof) or laze in the Ayala Cove area, where there is also an Angel Island Museum. And we can hop a shuttle that will take us to the old Angel Island Immigration Station (the Ellis Island of the West) where a knowledgeable docent will take us on a tour. You can bring a bag lunch or eat at the updated Cove Café.
And so to specifics: Tiburon Ferry: We will leave on the 10:00 ferry. Please leave plenty of time to find parking and buy your tickets. Directions to the ferry and parking info can be found by internet searching “Tiburon Ferry”. Return times are 1:20 and 3:30. The charge is $13.50 round trip. S. F. Ferry: Departure is 10:05 with return at 3:20. Round trip fee is $17.00. Please research directions and parking and allow enough time. Shuttle to Immigration Station: This is highly recommended as the roads to the Station are quite steep. We need to leave on the 10:40 shuttle and the round trip fee is $5.00. Immigration Station: We have reservations for a tour at 11:00. The docent guided tour is approximately 90 minutes and the fee is $7.00. Or a self-guided, less extensive tour is available for no charge. Please dress in layers as the weather on the island is unpredictable and can change rapidly. Bring your own water if you plan to venture outside of the main Ayala Cove area. You can plan your day on the island as you wish, but if you plan to take the Shuttle with us to the Immigration Station, please contact. Click here to RSVP IMMEDIATELY as reservations need to be made ASAP. Rain cancels.
